What to do if you receive the message "A required component of Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management Systems - Store Operations is not properly installed. Please re-install RMS Store Operations, and try again." when trying to log into a RITE Plug-in

This problem occurs occasionally after Microsoft Dynamics RMS Headquarters has been installed after RMS Store Operations.  To resolve this issue, take one of the following courses of action:
  • Uninstall and re-install Microsoft Dynamics RMS Store Operations
  • Manually re-register required RMS libraries using on of the commands (without the single quotes):
    • For 32-bit versions of Windows - regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\QSRules.dll"
    • For 64-bit versions of Windows - regsvr32 "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\QSRules.dll" 
NOTE: If you installed RMS in a different location than the default, please update the above commands accordingly.

Also, if you are attempting this on a Windows 7 or Windows 8 machine you will need to right click on the command prompt and choose the option to "Run as Administrator" if UAC is enabled.


Lastly, also try rebooting the computer if other solutions are failing.
