Submitting New Drivers License Data to RITE

Overview

A few RITE applications have the ability use input from Driver's Licenses or State Issues ID cards.  We have made our applications work with the national AAMVA standards adopted by the US Government for both Magnetic Stripe and 2-Dimensional Barcodes on these ID's.  We have, however, seen a number of cases where each state has interpreted these standards differently than intended, causing problems with our applications reading them properly.

To date, we have not been able to obtain up-to-date license information from all 50 states and 13 Canadian Provinces/Territories, so we do rely on information from our customer base in order to ensure our applications have as much coverage as possible.

If you're having problems making a drivers license format work or requesting RITE to add a new format for use with RITE Age Verification or RITE Express Customer Setup is simple.

Sending New License Data to RITE

To send new license data to us, please follow these steps so we can have everything we need to troubleshoot any problems:
  1. Open our Card Capture Utility program.  This can be found at C:\Program Files\RITE\<ApplicationName>\Card Capture Utility.exe, where <ApplicationName> is the name of the RITE program you are using with licenses. (You can also download this utility directly from our website HERE, but you must ensure you have the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.5 installed for it to work.)
  2. Scan or Swipe the ID into the utility as you would in the application normally.  Please note that you may not see anything happening, but it is!
  3. Click the Dump to File button, and save the file to a location that you can easily find, like the Desktop.
  4. Send the file you saved in Step 3 to support@rite.us along with your contact information, state/province of the license, and (if possible) a high-resolution scanned image of the front and back of the card.
